Did you know?

If an emu is going to attack you at a wildlife park or in the wild, a method of defence is to hold your arm above your head, and make a head shape with your hand. The emu will see you as being bigger than it, and retreat. If you're really short, like say a dwarf, you should run as fast as your little legs can take you.

On that note... an alternative defense for a tall person is to throw the emu a dwarf.

Either method will work, it's just a matter of finding the one that's right for you.

ahousenearyou Concert Review

Regurgitator - Wednesday 15/08/2001 at the University of Tasmania Bar.

A sell out crowd filled the University of Tasmania bar to check out the Gurge. They'd been to Hobart 3 or 4 times previously, sounding different pretty much each time. The Gurge have always disliked Hobart, we go too hard, and don't listen to their music. They bagged us out to a magazine once saying how much they disliked us, we're just starved for quality live music down here though, so when we get it... we go off. Anyway, they mustn't hate it too much, cos they keep coming back down and we keep going to see them.

With tickets provided by Fudd. Matt, Sammi and Stu were in attendance, our resident Haiku Horoscope man, John also came along for the ride, he's rated them in the Butchers place. The Butcher was not interested, even with a free ticket.

Ok, now I've had to ask a few people about the gig... I was there for the whole thing, but we'd drank heavily beforehand, and in the excitement of it all, it all kinda blended into one. So asking John what he thought of it we get a positive response.

"I actually really enjoyed the Gurge, almost enough to buy their latest album and give them another go. Although that could have been because they played a fair bit of old stuff and I was reasonably trashed and generally pumped from being on a rare excursion and also being on a holiday"

Stu was a bit loss positive, "they were cool, they should have played 'blubber boy' though". I totally agreed with this, though on watching the video we found that they had in fact played blubber boy and me and Stu were so excited that we went to mosh.

Personally, I was fairly impressed by this gig. I wasn't expecting a lot as they'd lost me in recent years. But it definately did the job.

Check out the links before to see video of Kung Fu Sing live from the University of Tasmania and also Sammi attempting to get an interview with the Gurge.
