The selection processWhen looking for a child to sponsor, you have to look at a number of things. You can choose the sex of your kid, you can choose the area of the world it's from and you can choose it's age. We decided to go for a boy. Mainly because we're male... what sort of advice can we offer to a little african girl? "Watch out for little African boys!". And that'll be about it. We decided to go for a kid aged between 10 and 13. This way, they can write to us and tell us how appreciative they are that we're sacrificing beer for them. No thankless act. Also, with the kid starting to get old maybe he's running out of time to get a sponsor? We decided to go for an African... cos maybe we'll catch a glimpse of him in the background on Survivor 3. After deciding these things, we found that through woldvision.org.au we can actually choose which kid we want. We expected to just be randomly assigned one meeting our criteria. This truely was a bonus. As well as it being fun to buy a kid, we get the satisfaction of feeling like we really are saving the lil fella. He'll know we picked him, it wasn't a random act. We only had a choice of 8 kids... but they were all quality. These were the 7 losing candidates.
And now, the moment I'm sure you've all been waiting for... the announcement of our new best friend. Ibrahim!
What a cool little fella! I'm proud of him already. More details of little Ibrahim will be posted here once they come to hand. We'll soon be writing him a letter. If you have anything to say to him or any questions you'd like to ask him. Mail us at ibrahim@ahousenearyou.com and we'll forward your message. |
